A compact, yet sturdy machine that won’t take up much space on any kitchen counter.

The Hamilton One Cup Coffee Maker has an attractive and durable stainless steel construction and will look good in any kitchen, and complement any décor.

However, it is strong enough to withstand high use and the regular knocks and bumps that are part and parcel of most kitchens.

Brewing with a Hamilton Single Cup Coffee Maker

The machine brews a good cup of hot coffee quickly – an 8 oz cup in less than 90 seconds and a 14 oz travel mug in under two and a half minutes. Note: premium or finer grinds may take a little longer.

Swapping between drink sizes is easy, as the Hamilton Beach Scoop Single Cup Coffee Maker has a built-in, adjustable stand that flips to accommodate different size cups.

After you adjust the machine to your preferred drink size, the brewing process is simple and straightforward:

  1. Fill the machine with the amount of water to match the size of cup you want to brew. A good idea is to use the cup you are going to brew into, but don’t forget to allow for any milk or creamer you are going to add after.
  2. Then, fill the Hamilton steel mesh scoop with your preferred grind.
  3. Insert the into in to the machine.
  4. Press the brew button (regular or bold).

Personalise your Brew

The Hamilton Single Serve Coffee Maker allows you to use your own preferred grind, be that espresso, light or dark roast.

If there is more than one coffee drinker in the house who has different tastes, you can easily alter each cup brewed to suit.

Simply empty and rinse the filter and refill. It does not require additional paper filters.

Brew it Strong

If you like your coffee strong, press or tamp the grinds in the filter down with the back of a spoon before you insert it into the machine.

Then choose the Hamilton Beach Personal Cup Coffee Maker’s ‘bold’ function.

Don’t forget – the term ‘strong coffee’ is a relative and subjective term. If you prefer really strong coffee, an espresso type machine may be a better option for you.

You can then further personalize the final taste of the final product with the milk/creamer or suggest

What do we like about this machine?

  • The combination scoop filter that is labeled with two measuring lines for exact serving amounts.
  • Its automatic shut-off feature which turns off the machine after the brewing cycle is complete.
You never need to worry if your Hamilton Beach Single Serve Coffee Brewer is still on after you leave the house for work, to drop the kids to school, to run errands or head to an early morning meeting or class.
  • Its other safety features – the unit will not start brewing if there is no water in the water reservoir and a brew button is pushed.
  • You can use your preferred grind – light or dark roast, coarse or more finely ground. No need to buy k-cups or coffee capsules.
  • Its two brewing options – regular or bold for a stronger brew.
  • Nice solid construction and it seals well when you close the lid to brew.
  • The key brewing components are dishwasher safe. Note: the brew basket should be cleaned daily (emptied and rinsed out after each brew) and the filter holder and drip trays should be cleaned at least weekly.
  • It also works well for tea, noodles, soup and other just add hot water drinks. NB. Don’t put these in the filter. Put them in the cup and run water through the machine.

What do we not like about this machine?

  • The end result can end up with a sludge of coffee grinds at the bottom. This can mean that you won’t be able to drink the last quarter inch or so of your brewed coffee. You may be able to offset this by using the ‘bold’ function when using flavoured, decaf, finely ground or other premium brand ground coffees or by using paper filters. NB. This problem seems to be more evident with the premium, more finely ground options that you can buy.
  • While the Hamilton Beach Single Serve Coffee Maker offers good value for money and low-cost, this does mean that it does not have some of the functionality of more expensive machines. It doesn’t have are any timed functions such as a clock or overnight setting for the morning.
  • This machine requires it be filled every time you brew.
  • It does need cleaning ie. basket with used grinds needs to be emptied after each cup. This may be a little messier than disposing of a K-cup
  • It has a short electrical cord, so it needs to be close to an outlet.

  3. Don’t overfill the scoop, as this may cause the water to overflow.
  4. While the machine brews a hot cup of coffee, if you like it hotter, simply rinse your cup or travel mug with warm water before brewing.
  5. When one cycle is complete, the coffeemaker automatically shuts off.
  6. When brewing, keep ground coffee below the MAX fill line and do not use more than 14 ounces (410 ml) of water.
